T.E.A.M. Southwest Homeschoolers
Together, Educating And Mentoring is a group of home schooling families whose purpose
is to provide mutual fellowship, support and education to other home schooling families in
and around the area of Fort Wayne, Indiana. We offer monthly gatherings, field trips,
Mom's Night Out and Fellowship, and a children's playgroup.
Attendance is open to all persons regardless of religious affiliation.

Monthly Planner 2008

Friday, August 22nd: Field Trip to Salamonie Reservoir’s Lost Bridge Learning Center
and a Nature Hike.  We will take a 1/2 hour hike led by a naturalist and then participate in
a 1/2 hour lesson at the Salamonie Interpretive Services Center.  Our trip will begin
promptly at 1:00 p.m. so, please arrive at 12:45 p.m.  Our trip will last about 1 hour.
Afterwards students are invited to explore nature exhibits at the center. Cost is $1 per
student, adults are free. Location is Lost Bridge West State Recreation Area (About 8
miles South of US 24 on SR 105 ), phone (260) 468-2127. Attendees will receive a map
prior to visit. This trip is limited to 30 students. This trip is now
FULL. To be put on a list for
possible cancellations, email admin@teamhomeschool.net.

Friday, September 12th: PETCO Field Trip - Animal Welfare & Responsibility. The Fur,
Feathers & Fins
program allows children to learn about the characteristics and habitats
of fish, reptiles, birds and small animals. Lessons in science, math and geography come
to life through this hands-on field trip. This
FREE field trip presented by Petco's Field Trip
Factory will help children in grades K-8 develop and enhance skills in:  Basic needs for
animal care,  Animal habitats and characteristics, Environmental issues and animal
survival,  Animal respect, Math, reading and science. This trip is limited to 30 students
and is geared for children K-8. Our tour and talk will last 90 minutes. We will begin at 1:00
p.m. Please arrive at 12:45 p.m. to Petco, 315 East Coliseum Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
This trip is now

Friday, September 12th, 2 to 4pm: Art Out of the Box: Art Cars  
Explore a new traveling art gallery every second Friday of the month through May 2008.
Interact with the art works as you learn about history, artists and art techniques. This
month you can paint a car on the Library Plaza and create a model car of your own to take

month; at 1:30 for homeschoolers and at 4:00 for afterschoolers. Grades 1 through 5

Pet Care for Kids!  Tips from Animal Care and Control of Fort Wayne!
September 19, 2008  1:00 (for homeschoolers)
Join us for a fun and informative program that focuses on the importance of caring for,
and being responsible for your pet as well as other animals in your community. We will
incorporate ideas of respect, responsibility, caring, fairness and citizenship, all concepts
relating to the care of animals and human beings. This program will offer pet care advice,
safety tips, and of course, a fun craft!

Monday, September 22nd: 2008 Home School Days at Crazy Pinz Bowling Center will
be held the fourth Monday of each month, from 1-3 p.m. The cost is $3 per person to bowl
and covers shoe rental. All ages are welcome. Additional events (putt-putt, mini-bowling,
and Ball City cost extra). No pre-registration necessary. Check in with TEAM
Homeschoolers Bowling Field Trip Days at front desk upon arrival. Upcoming days:

Friday, October 10th: Culver Duck Farm Field Trip and Tour.
Join us as we learn about duck farming operations from North America’s second largest
duck farm. Our
free tour will include the duck barns, hatchery and the feed and growth test
facility. Culver Duck Farm is located just west of Shipshewana at 12215 CR 10,
Middlebury, Indiana. Both group trips are now
FULL. Openings due to cancels will be
posted here.
Group 1 will begin at 10:30 a.m., Group 2 will begin at 12:15 p.m.
All participants will receive an email confirmation and area map 1 week prior.

PSAT Registration information:
You or your student should contact a local
public or independent high school. Call the
school's main number and ask to be directed to
whoever handles the PSAT/NMSQT
arrangements. Be sure to do so well in advance
of the mid-October test dates. If the school
seems resistant, you should ask another
school in the area.
These following area schools are participating
in administering the PSAT:
*Blackhawk Christian HS, Phone

home school applicants on August 1, 2008
for PSAT testing.
